Cataract Surgery: Cataract surgery is the removal of the cloudy natural crystalline lens of the eye. The lens is behind the iris, the colored part of the eye. The lens can become cloudy due to age, injury or certain eye diseases. Removal of the lens is accompanied by the insertion of an intraocular lens implant, (IOL). We use four different classes of IOL's.
- Monofocal IOL - provides clear vision after surgery with the requirement of glasses for distance, near, or both.
- Toric IOL - provides clear vision by correcting a significatnt amount of astigmatism, which will help to reduce the need for correction with glasses.
- Aspherical IOL - offers premium optics to provide the clearest and sharpest vision possible with the requirement of glasses for distance, near, or both.
- Multifocal IOL - provides clear vision for near, far, and everything in between with minimal dependence on glasses
