Steven
G. Wisehart, M.D. received his
undergraduate degree from the
University of Georgia in Athens. Dr.
Wisehart graduated with his medical
degree from the Medical College of Georgia,
and completed an internal medicine
residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,
Minnesota. Dr. Wisehart then performed
his ophthalmology residency at the
University of Alabama at Birmingham / Eye
Foundation Hospital. He also completed
a retina fellowship at the Vitreoretinal
Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr.
Wisehart is a Board Certified
Ophthalmologist. He has lived in
Gainesville, Georgia and has been in
practice since 1986. Dr. Wisehart has
been involved with medical mission work in
Mexico and Belize.
William
C. Ackerman Jr., M.D. received
his undergraduate degree at the University
of Georgia in Athens. Dr. Ackerman
graduated with his medical degree at the
University of South Florida in Tampa,
Florida, and performed his ophthalmology
residency training at the University of
Alabama at Birmingham / Eye Foundation
Hospital. He has lived in Gainesville,
Georgia since 1994. Dr. Ackerman is a
Board Certified Ophthalmologist and has
extensive training in glaucoma therapy
which he received through working with top
international glaucoma specialists. He has
been involved with international relief
missions restoring sight in underprivileged
parts of the world.
Kenneth C. Lao, M.D. is a graduate of Emory University
and received his medical degree from the University of Alabama
School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. He completed his
Ophthalmology Residency at Texas A&M College of Medicine in
Temple, Texas where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Lao also completed a Residency in Family Medicine at
Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is board
certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Lao is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology,
the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and
the Christian Ophthalmology Society. Dr. Lao has served in
several hospital and clinical appointments as a staff physician
as well as Family Medicine and Emergency Room Physician.
Dr. Lao has been involved with medical mission trips around the
world including China, Indonesia and Mexico. Dr. Lao is bilingual
and fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
John
T. Barker, O.D. joined Advanced
Eye Center in June 2003. Dr. Barker received
his undergraduate degree from the University
of Florida, and his doctorate from Nova
Southeastern University College of Optometry
in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Barker is a
Board Certified Optometrist in the treatment
of glaucoma and eye infections. He acquired
his surgical co-management and glaucoma
training at Southern Eye Institute in
Jacksonville, Florida. He has extensive
clinical experience in specialty
contact lenses including keratoconus. Dr.
Barker is a member of the Greater Atlanta
Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric
Association, and the American Optometric
Association.
