William C. Ackerman, JR., M.D.
Dr. Ackerman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in Athens. Dr. Ackerman graduated with his medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa and performed his ophthalmology residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham/Eye Foundation Hospital. He has lived in Gainesville, Georgia since 1994 with his wife and three daughters. Dr. Ackerman is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who has been a leader in adopting and implementing the latest technologies relating to cataract and vision correction surgery, not only in the State of Georgia, but on a National level. He also has extensive training in glaucoma therapy which he received through working with the top international glaucoma specialists. He has been involved with international relief missions restoring sight in underprivileged parts of the world. Dr. Ackerman has performed tens of thousands of surgical procedures, including but not limited to laser vision correction, cataract removal, corneal transplants, glaucoma and eyelid surgery. In his free time, Dr. Ackerman enjoys bird dogs, bird hunting, fly-fishing and fresh and saltwater fishing.
Centrael Evans, M.D.
Dr. Evans, who most people call Sonny, is a Georgia native. He graduated from Cedar Shoals High School before completing a degree in Biology at Brigham Young University. Dr. Evans received his Doctorate of Medicine from the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia where he was named a Global Health Institute Field Scholar for his work with pediatric cataracts in Zambia, Africa. After completing an internship in Internal Medicine at Emory, Dr. Evans completed his Ophthalmology residency at SUNY – Buffalo where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Evans was nominated by faculty and peers into the Richard Sarkin / Emeritus Faculty Chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. The review process of the society is by a Selection Committee for qualities of extraordinary compassion, empathy, altruism, and professionalism. He also received the Evan Calkins, MD, Fellowship for Community-Based Research, to support his research into improving outcomes for patients with ophthalmological emergencies. Dr. Evans is a comprehensive ophthalmologist trained in the medical, laser and surgical management of a wide variety of eye diseases such as Cataract, Glaucoma, Diabetic Eye Disease, Macular Degeneration, Traumatic Eye Injuries and more. When not at work, Dr. Evans enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, restoring vintage muscle cars and cheering for the Dawgs.
L.W. Robinson III, O.D.
Dr. Robinson is a Gainesville native who received his undergraduate degree from North Georgia College in Dahlonega, GA. He completed his Doctor of Optometry and Internship from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Dr. Robinson also completed an externship at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN. He has extensive experience in full-scope optometry treating all types of ocular disease as well as cataract pre and post operative care, LASIK pre and post operative care, and contact lenses. Dr. Robinson has been involved with Special Olympics and annual service trips with SVOSH to improve vision in underserved countries. He enjoys outdoor sports, particularly soccer.
